Water Standley Garden

he Standley Garden is looking for someone to water their plants once a week through the Summer, total time per week is only 10 minutes and at your convenience.

Standley Garden and Pond Advisory Parents and Students: if you’re interested in being in the Garden and Pond advisory next year, please sign up with your name and Fall grade level- all invited 6th, 7th, 8th. Signups can be done:

We need volunteers to water the Jacarandas at Park and Ride on Governor near 805 during 2009. If you want to help out, please, contact Sandy at (858) 453 2387. You can sign up for a month of watering once a week…

 

Computers for Spreckels

Spreckels Bilingual Magnet is on a quest to upgrade the school's computer lab and computers in the classrooms to new state-of-the-art equipment so that our Spreckels Wildcats have the very best learning resources available!

We'd love to get support from the University City Community to help us accomplish our goals! If you have any expertise in this area or have time to help us with funding research, we want to hear from you!

Enrichment at Spreckels

Spreckels Bilingual Magnet is setting up a variety of after-school enrichment programs and would love to utilize the skills and talents of our University City  community neighbors - that means you! - as much as possible.

If you are a master chess player, singing dynamo or tap dancing fool (or have any other expertise in the arts or sports) and... would like to share your skills with our students, please, let us know!

On the Go brings a much needed service to our community. Easy, accessible, and affordable transportation for older adults. It’s more than a ride - it’s independence, communityconnection, mobility, and dignity.

Volunteer Opportunities in University City:

On the Go Shuttle Escort - ride on group transportation Shuttles and assist passengers.

On the Go Excursion Chaperone - chaperone one of the many enjoyable planned trips.

University City High School graduation

Volunteers are needed during the set-up on June 12 and 13 from 5:00-9:00pm and all day Saturday, June 14 from 8:30am and take-down on Saturday, June 21 from 8:30am. Even one hour of your time would be gratefully appreciated.

 

4th of July celebration

This is a call for all those who can help out on the 4th of July celebration to secure beer handling training.

This training if fun, only takes an hour, including the testing, it’s free, and you’ll be able to serve beer at the beer gazebo on the 4th of July!

If this sounds like fun for you, please let us know which Saturday morning, in June, from 9 to 10 works best for you. If you want to train but can’t make Saturdays, let us know which dates and times are best for you. Please, use the Contact us page or send an e-mail to celebration@ucca-news.org.

 

Sunday concerts

Your recreation council will be providing weekly Sunday concerts at Standley Park this summer. There is a dire need
for “stage hands” to set up the stage at 1:00 p.m. and dismantle it at 7:00 p.m. To allow the “shows to go on”, we are looking for 8 people committed to setting up the stage for 8 concerts on each Sunday from July 16th to August 24h. Compensation will be provided for those willing to commit.
