Citizen's Review Board
Learn about the Citizen's Review Board on Police practices whose perpose is to promote fair and humane policing and to ensure the safety of both citizens and police officers, at www.sandiego.gov/citizensreviewboard.
Citizens Review Board on Police Practices has a new executive director, Patrick Hunter. Hunter visited the UCCA Board meeting at the U.C. library on June 11th at 6 p.m. and discussed the mission of the group that reviews serious complaints against the SDPD.
Crime watch
Make sure you double check cars, windows or doors. It is definitely worth the effort. Always stay alert and be a good neighbor - if you see something that is not “not right”, tell someone! Be safe.

Real time traffic information
It’s easy to get real time traffic information and driving times; just dial 511 or go to www.511sd.com. You can also get information about transit, FasTrak and RideLink. If interested, you can also take a Traffic Info Survey—just click on the link on the website. The 511 system is also helpful if you run out of gas, need a tow or have another problem on the road. Just pull over to a safe location, note where you’re located by highway number, nearest exit or landmark, call 511 from your cell phone and ask for Roadside Assistance. The 511system will route the call to the Call box system. The motorist has to pay for any towing charges or mechanic work…

You Are Not Alone (YANA)
The San Diego Police Department has a program called You Are Not Alone (YANA). Volunteers from the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP) will arrange to check on elderly or disabled persons on a regular basis. To request this service, go to SDPD Northern Division, 4275 Eastgate Mall, Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm or call (858) 522 1700.
Vacation House Checks
Another community service offered by the SDPD is Vacation House Checks. Either stop by or call the Northern Division as indicated above and arrange to have a volunteer from the Northern division conduct a security check on your home while you are away.
Street sweep
UC’s streets are swept the 1st Thursday, every other month - January, March, May, July, September and November. Circle these days on your calendar as a reminder to move your car. No signs are posted.
Recycling

Recycle San Diego has moved to 8222 Ronson Road, SAN DIEGO, CA 92111. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 9:00a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The following e-waste items are accepted free: computer monitors, Plasma displays, TV’s,(CRT,LCD), Projection TV’s (rear, overhead, LCD, digital light, console), Laptops and PDA’s, Computer towers, servers, monitor/tower and TV/VCR combination units, Toner and ink cartridges (new or used), cell phones, pagers, personal music players (Walkman®, iPod®, etc.). Other electronic items are accepted for a fee.

Graffiti
Graffiti seems to be on the rise in and around U.C.
Grafitti needs to go. If you find graffiti, please, contact the graffiti hotline at (619) 525 8522 to report it.
Weed
If weed abatement is a problem, call the fire department
at (619) 533 4444 to report it. Code compliance is the
agency to report violations at (619) 236 5500.
Sidewalk
If your sidewalk needs repair as many do in U.C., call (619) 527 7500 to report the problem and make sure you get a service request number to check on progress of repair.
