Adventurer, Sort this Mess Out!
Okay, so you have decided to go on this difficult trip. As a general rule, you know that your back should be around thirty pounds. But, what exactly shall you bring?
A quick weather report shows that it will be cold, with temperatures near freezing. The first night you will be hiking for 4 miles while gaining nearly a 1000 feet elevation. Chances are there will be snow...
Choices:
1) Well, we will be hiking uphill for hours, so I can do without these to save weight: extra water, a second flashlight, poncho.
2) Let's follow the packing list exactly. You don't have the time to customize it for this trip and just want to be done. Packing lists are there for a reason, right?
3) It will be horribly difficult, so you should be comfortable. Your pack weighs a few pounds extra, but you feel more prepared.
