1) You give up, hearing that the entire trip will be 22 miles and that at the altitude you will be backpacking, there is 25% less oxygen. You reach towards your phone, planning to cancel...

2) So, your friend and a group of other backpackers came to your house to pick you up a few hours ago. They enthusiastically chatted about the trip, and the drive to San Jacinto mountain went by quickly. Now you stand at the trailhead, and have to vote for whether or not to camp at the bottom tonight. It is 35 degrees, and storm clouds hover overhead. You vote to wait out the storm.
